The idea of booking a home visit from any company comes with a low-grade anxiety: will they pressure-sell, drag it out, leave without giving real numbers? We understand the hesitation. So instead of asking you to trust us, we're going to tell you exactly what happens — step by step, minute by minute — so there are no unknowns before you call.
If you've been reading our guides on choosing blackout curtains for Dubai homes or why custom curtains outperform ready-made in the UAE, this article is the practical next step: what getting a site visit with us actually looks like.
Why the Site Visit Changes the Outcome
Most curtain buying mistakes happen without a proper measurement. You look at a window, estimate the width, pick a drop from a standard size range, and hope for the best. In a market where Dubai's post-2010 construction routinely produces floor-to-ceiling glass spanning 2.8–3.5 metres in height, "standard sizes" almost never apply.
The site visit is for you, not for us. The most valuable output for the homeowner is seeing fabric samples in their actual space, understanding which product is right for each window, and receiving a clear written quote before making any decision. It is a consultation, not a closing call.
Step 1 — Booking: 2 Minutes of Your Time
Contact us by WhatsApp or phone and tell us: your location, a rough idea of what you need (even "not sure yet" is fine), and two or three time slots that work for you. We confirm within a few hours. Same-week appointments are usually available across Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.
Measurements, product decisions, a budget number, or any idea of what you want. All of that happens during the visit. Many customers contact us with nothing more than "I just moved in and need curtains" — that's completely fine.
What to Prepare Before We Arrive
Note your window directions
Which way does each main window face? East gets morning sun; west gets the harshest afternoon heat. This informs fabric type above anything else.
Helpful but optionalPhotos of inspiration
Saved images from Instagram or Pinterest showing a style you like — draping, colour palette, a curtain header style — help us match your aesthetic quickly.
Helpful if you have themHave the lights on
We bring physical fabric samples and present them in your space. Having lights on as they normally would be in the evening gives the truest colour reading.
Worth doingNo measuring needed
Please don't pre-measure. DIY window measurements are the most common source of errors. We bring professional laser tools — it takes less time to do it right than to check someone else's numbers.
Leave this to usBudget awareness
A general range ("I'd like to keep it under AED 3,000 for two rooms") helps us show options that won't waste your time on products out of scope.
Helpful if you have a limitSmart home info
If considering motorized curtains, knowing your system (Google Home, Alexa, Somfy TaHoma) helps us specify the right motor from the start.
Relevant if motorizingStep 2 — The Window Survey
Our team arrives at the agreed time. The first five minutes are a walkthrough — we ask you to show us the windows you want to address. We're simultaneously noting:
- Window orientation — East, west, north, or south affects fabric choice fundamentally. A west-facing bedroom needs a heat-rejecting fabric that a north-facing study doesn't.
- Existing treatments — Are there tracks, brackets, or holes from a previous installation? Can they be reused, or do they need replacing?
- Wall material behind the plaster — Dubai construction varies widely. Some walls have render over concrete (solid fixing); others are gypsum partitions needing specialist fixings for heavy curtains.
- AC vent and obstacle positions — Many Dubai apartments have AC vents directly above windows. Track placement and curtain drop must work around these.
- Room use and light requirements — A home cinema needs total blackout. A living room may benefit from layered sheer-plus-blackout. A study may prefer light-filtering rather than full block.
What We Actually Measure — and Why Each One Matters
The actual glazed area. This is the baseline — but curtains should never be sized to glass width alone.
The flat wall surface beside the frame where the track can extend — we need 15–25cm each side for curtains to stack clear of glass when open.
Space above the window frame up to the ceiling — determines whether ceiling-mounted track is possible, often the cleanest finish in Dubai apartments.
From ceiling or desired track height to the floor. Dubai tower heights mean this is often 280–340cm — well beyond any standard curtain drop.
Concrete, block, or gypsum partition — determines fixing type and bracket placement. Critical for heavy fabrics and motorized systems.
AC vent positions, light fittings, door swing arcs — all affect track length, bracket placement, and how curtains operate.
The total track width we install is almost always significantly wider than the window glass — typically glass width plus 40–50cm total. This allows the curtains to stack fully off the glass when open and to overlap generously in the centre when closed — eliminating the gap where Dubai sun pours through. This is impossible with ready-made curtains sized to glass width.
Step 3 — Fabric Selection in Your Own Light
We bring physical fabric samples to your home and present them in your actual windows, under your actual lighting. A fabric that looks warm in a showroom may appear cooler in a north-facing Dubai apartment flooded with indirect sky light. The only way to know is to see it in the space.
Based on the walkthrough — window orientations, room functions, and style references you've shared — we already have a shortlist in mind. For west-facing bedrooms we lead with blackout fabrics with thermal properties. For living rooms, layering options combining sheer panels with a blackout option. For statement pieces, our luxury curtain range including velvet options.
When blinds make more sense than curtains
Not every window in a home needs curtains. We may recommend a roller blind for a bathroom, a zebra blind for a kitchen, or wooden blinds for a study. We carry samples for our full range — blinds, curtains, and vertical sheers — so all decisions can be made in a single visit.
Step 4 — Your Written Quotation
You receive a written quote — same day or next morning — itemising every element: each window listed separately with fabric chosen and dimensions, track or rod type, motor specification if motorization is included, installation at AED 0, a clear total including VAT, and lead time in working days.
No problem. The quote is a starting point. If you want a different fabric, an additional room, or to remove a window from the order, we revise and resend. No charge for revisions. No pressure on timing. Quotes remain valid for 30 days. Confirming the order is a simple WhatsApp reply — that's what triggers manufacturing.
Step 5 — Manufacturing Your Curtains
Once you confirm, your curtains enter production. Every panel is cut and sewn to the exact millimetre dimensions recorded during the survey — not approximated to the nearest standard size. The 7–14 working day window depends on fabric availability, order complexity, and current production schedule. We give you a specific installation date before manufacturing starts — not a range to find out on the day.
If you have a move-in date or a specific event, tell us at booking stage. For in-stock fabrics, we can sometimes deliver within 3–5 working days. We won't promise a timeline we can't keep — but we'll always tell you honestly what's possible.
Step 6 — Installation Day
Arrival and site check
The team confirms all curtains and hardware are present and undamaged. We re-verify wall material at bracket positions — occasionally a wall surveys differently at fixing depth than it appeared during measurement.
Mounting the hardware
Ceiling or wall-mounted tracks are fixed using the correct anchors for the wall type identified during survey. We use a laser level to ensure tracks are perfectly horizontal — a slightly off-level track causes curtains to drift open, a common sign of a hurried job.
Hanging and dressing the curtains
Panels are hung, adjusted for even drop, and "dressed" — the process of encouraging fabric to fold naturally into consistent pleats or waves. This takes time but is the difference between curtains that look tailored and curtains that just look installed.
Motor connection and pairing
Motors are connected, travel limits set, and remotes or app pairing completed in your presence. We don't leave until you've confirmed the system works from every control point — remote, app, and voice.
Walk-through and sign-off
We walk through every installed window with you. If anything looks wrong — a panel hanging uneven, a bracket that doesn't sit flush — we fix it before we leave. We clean up all packaging and debris. The job isn't done until you're satisfied.
Ready to Book Your Free Site Visit?
Now you know exactly what to expect. No surprises, no pressure — just professional measurement, expert advice, and a written quote at no cost.
After Installation: Warranty and Aftercare
- Fabric warranty: If the fabric develops premature wear, colour inconsistency, or seam failure within one year under normal use, we replace it.
- Installation warranty: If a bracket loosens, a track develops a fault, or a hook fails, we return to fix it at no charge.
- Motor warranty: Somfy motors carry their own manufacturer warranty in addition to our installation guarantee. If a motor malfunctions, we coordinate the resolution — you don't have to deal with the brand directly.
Many customers take their custom curtains when they move within the UAE. If relocating within Dubai, contact us — if new window dimensions are close, we may be able to re-hem or reuse existing panels at a fraction of the cost of new curtains.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the site visit genuinely free with no pressure to buy?
Yes, completely. We measure, advise, and provide a written quote. There is no obligation to proceed and no follow-up pressure beyond a single courtesy message. Many customers use the visit to gather information and decide weeks later.
How long does the site visit take?
A standard Dubai apartment with 3–5 windows typically takes 30–45 minutes. A larger villa with 10+ windows may take 60–75 minutes. We always arrive on time and work efficiently.
Can I get a quote for both curtains and blinds in the same visit?
Yes — this is one of the main advantages of a single supplier. We bring samples for curtains, all blind types, and outdoor shading products. You can make decisions for every window in your home in one visit.
Do you do evening or weekend visits?
Yes. We accommodate working hours and offer evening and weekend appointment slots. Just mention your availability when booking via WhatsApp. We don't charge differently for non-standard hours.
Do you serve areas outside Dubai?
Yes — Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, and across UAE. Contact us via WhatsApp to confirm availability and lead times for your location.
